Planting with our Senses- A Parent and Child Sensory Workshop

Michelle Schauf is a blessed wife of nine years and a stay-at-home mom to two sweet little boys, who help make her to be a better human every day. She is a former early-childhood teacher of seven years, teaching grades kindergarten through fourth. Michelle has a strong passion for early childhood education and teaching her little ones how to be compassionate humans who make the world a better place. Her specialty is teaching children to love learning through play and igniting their curiosity by creating an environment that activates their whole body and mind.

This experience is designed for early childhood-aged kids (Ages 3-7) and their parent(s). It will be a hands-on learning experience where kids will learn about the parts of a plant and understand how a plant grows. This class will also include information for parents on the importance of learning through play, how to get your child excited about learning by piquing their interests and making connections, and different activities that you can do with your kids while allowing them to discover and connect their learning to everyday life. It will ignite your child’s curiosity and activate their whole body!

Each child will leave with a basic understanding of the parts of a plant and how a plant grows; kids will also leave with a take-home activity and a plant to take home and grow. Someone will also win a plant-themed sensory bin to take home! Each parent will leave with a multitude of examples of how to easily incorporate learning throughout their child’s day, a basic understanding of different styles of learning that meet the interests and needs of their children, and knowledge about how to make the most out of learning through play.
